Safeguarding

At Sailors’ Children’s Society, our aim is to give each disadvantaged child of a seafarer the opportunity to achieve their full potential by providing financial, practical and emotional support.

All organisations that come into contact with children and vulnerable adults need to have safeguarding and child protection policies, which set a commitment to protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults from harm, here at Sailors’ Children’s Society we are committed to creating and maintaining a safe, positive and inclusive charity where the welfare of those we support is paramount.

Our Commitment

• Prioritise the safety and wellbeing of all individuals we come into contact with, supporting and signposting advice and guidance where needed.
• Act promptly and appropriately on any concerns, suspicions, or disclosures of abuse.
• Ensure all staff and volunteers are carefully selected, trained and understand their safeguarding responsibilities.
• Promote a culture of openness, trust, and respect in everything we do.
• Work in partnership with families, local statutory agencies, and communities to protect those at risk.
