One of the incredible benefits that the families in receipt of our support can access is the offer of a family holiday. Children who might not have the opportunity to go on a family break are entitled to a grant which allows their parent(s) to plan a suitable holiday.
Giving our families a respite break grant allows them to plan a holiday that works for them. That might be a seaside break, a week in a cabin in the countryside or a visit to see family. The children and families that we support can enjoy a holiday that would otherwise have been an impossibility.
Natasha Barley, CEO of the Sailors’ Children’s Society said, ‘It’s now known that family holidays are proven to bring wellbeing and mental health benefits to children and families. These respite breaks are giving children the opportunity to make happy memories with their families and will have a positive effect on them for years to come.’
