Auction prize becomes a special day on the water for Sailors’ Children’s Society families 

What started as a prize at our annual Ladies Lunch turned into a wonderful day on the water for some of our families supported by Sailors’ Children’s Society. 

The sailing trip, kindly donated as an auction prize by HFR Solutions, was originally won by Global Shipping Services. With an already very busy shipping diary, the team generously decided to donate the experience back to the charity so that some of our families could enjoy it instead. 

Our own Hannah and Shelby joined two families currently supported by the Society – a grandmother and her grandchildren, and a mum with her teenagers- for the four-hour trip along the Thorne Canal. 

Setting off from Staniland Marina, the group travelled to Stainforth, where they enjoyed a gorgeous lunch in the sunshine before heading back. It was a chance for the families to spend some quality time together, try something different, and create some lovely memories away from the pressures of everyday life. 

It was a brilliant full-circle moment and a great example of how support can go far beyond an auction prize.
